KUALA LUMPUR: An enforcement officer has been arrested by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of accepting approximately RM5,000 in bribes to expedite the approval of foreign worker quotas.
According to sources, the male suspect in his 40s was detained around 4pm at the Perak MACC office.
Meanwhile, Perak MACC director, Ahmad Sabri Mohamed, confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation was being conducted under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
He said the suspect was released on bail after his statement was recorded.
